Each matriculated student (enrolled in a certificate, diploma, or degree program) is assigned an adviser who assists the student in planning a schedule to meet their educational needs and advises them concerning any problem that may arise. Students are encouraged to contact their advisers periodically. Any non-matriculated student (such as those in the Open Learning Program) can contact the Registrar's Office with questions or problems, or for recommendations and advisement.

The required schedule of classes for on-campus first-year (freshmen) students at Charlotte seeking the Associate of Arts (A.A.) degree is below. Because of transfer credit some courses may have to be substituted. Any departure from the required schedule requires approval of the Dean of Faculty. See Suggested Full-time Schedule for completing the A.A. degree.

Students who have completed a standard one year course sequence in College Composition may fulfill the requirement of ENGL 111 and 112. The University will make a determination in a student's transfer credit evaluation. See Transfer Credit for transfer credit process, rules and procedures. See Suggested Full-time Schedule for completing the B.Th. degree.
