ACT Plus Writing

The ACT is a set of four curriculum-based, multiple-choice tests which cover English, mathematics, reading, science, and an optional 30-miniute Writing Test. Applicants who achieve a Composite Score of less than 21 on the ACT, must also take the College Board's ACCUPLACER placement test unless they have satisfactory transfer of English/mathematics/algebra credits. The Admissions Committee encourages applicants to take the Writing Test.

Applicants should take the ACT early in the senior year or in the spring or summer of the junior year of high school. Home study applicants must participate in the American College Testing Program including the Writing Test (see Home Study).

Non-Saturday testing is available for the ACT for students who cannot test on Saturday because of their religious convictions. Contact ACT Test Administration for information about arranged testing at P.O. Box 168, Iowa City, IA 52243-0168 or visit the ACT Website.
