Assessment and Advisement
WHAT IS THE
PLACEMENT TEST REQUIREMENT?
Applicants seeking admission
to diploma or degree programs must meet the
university placement test requirement. There
is no placement test requirement for a
certificate program.
WILL
SAT OR ACT SCORES MEET THE REQUIREMENT?
Yes. Send us a copy of your test scores from
either the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) of
the College Entrance Examination Board or
the American College Test (ACT) of the
American College Testing Program. High
school seniors should take these tests early
in their senior year or in the spring or
summer of their junior year.
In order to have scores
sent directly to Living University, enter
our code as 5384 for SAT tests, or 6528 for
ACT tests. Applicants who achieve scores
less than 500 on the mathematics section and
the critical reading section of the SAT or a
composite score of less than 21 on the ACT,
must also take the College Board’s
ACCUPLACER placement test unless they have
satisfactory transfer of
English/mathematics/algebra credits.
WHAT IS THE
ACCUPLACER?
The ACCUPLACER placement test consists of
four sections and assesses a student’s
achievement level in sentence skills,
reading comprehension, mathematics, and
algebra. The ACCUPLACER test is not a timed
test and it is administered by computer.
WHEN DO I
HAVE TO TAKE THE ACCUPLACER?
Normally ACCUPLACER must be taken before a
student enrolls in ENG 111 or MATH 162.
Satisfactory scores are prerequisite to
enrollment in these courses. The
requirement is waived for the 2008-2009

beginning with the fall 2009 semester.
