To the right is a list of those courses that a student must complete for a Diploma in Biblical Studies. This program of study, which provides students with an in-depth study of the Bible and related topics, prepares students to be more effective leaders in churches and schools.

This program, which requires a minimum of 40 semester hours, is designed with a two-fold purpose: to provide lay persons the opportunity to grow in their understanding of the Scriptures and in their ability to effectively teach the Scriptures to others.

The general education requirement in a diploma program is successful completion of ENGL 111 (Written Expression) and SPCM 150ab (Oral Communication).

On successful completion of this program, students:

• Can demonstrate the veracity and reliability of the Bible;

• Understand and can explain the New Testament and its implication and application;

• Demonstrate and exemplify Christian leadership and values;

• Know and understand biblical doctrines.

• Can demonstrate a working familiarity with the Hebrew Scriptures;

• Show understanding of the history of the Church; and

• Can demonstrate understanding of eschatological events and Bible prophecy.

Upon entering the Diploma in Biblical Studies Program a student is assigned an adviser who will be available for program advisement and career information. An adviser helps a student create a workable plan to meet his or her educational objectives within a reasonable time period.

The Diploma in Biblical Studies normally requires two years to complete on a part-time basis (see Suggested Schedule). Those who plan to complete the certificate over three or more years can take one or two courses a semester. These courses are not available in the summer session.

For the conferring of the diploma students should apply for graduation in the semester they plan to graduate. Students may obtain an Application for Graduation from the Registrar. This application must be filed with the Registrar by midterm for graduation that semester.
