The
Bachelor of Arts in Theology degree program is a four-year,
128-semester-hour program of study designed to equip students with a
sound theological base for leadership, teaching, and ministry within a
local church, particularly related to volunteer, bi-vocational, or
career service. Specifically, it seeks to develop servant-leaders who:
Can demonstrate the veracity and reliability of the Bible;
Demonstrate a working familiarity with the Hebrew Scriptures;
Understand and can explain the New Testament and its implication and
application;
Demonstrate and exemplify Christian leadership and values;
Show understanding of Christian history and theology;
Know and demonstrate understanding of biblical doctrines;
Demonstrate knowledge of the worlds major religions and how they differ from
Christianity; and
Demonstrate understanding of eschatological events and biblical prophecy.
This degree program requires successful completion of a minimum of 128
semester hours which includes coursework in general education, a
departmental major in theology, and electives. Students are advised to
complete a minor as part of their electives. To the right is a list of those
courses that a student must complete for a BA degree in Theology.
Upon entering the BA in Theology
degree program a student
is assigned an adviser who will be available for program advisement
and career information. An adviser helps a student create a workable
plan to meet his or her educational objectives within a
reasonable time period.
The Bachelor of
Arts in Theology normally requires four years of full-time study to complete.
The design of Suggested Full-time
Schedule A is for young adults.
Suggested Full-time Schedule B is for adults interested in
completing theology courses early in their degree program.
Students who plan to complete the degree on a part-time basis should
seek to complete the degree program within not more than seven
consecutive calendar years (about three courses per semester). Again,
the design of Suggested Part-time
Schedule A is for young adults. Suggested
Part-time Schedule B is for adults interested in
completing theology courses early in their degree program.
For the conferring of the
degree students should apply for graduation in the semester they plan
to graduate. Students may obtain an Application for Graduation
from the Registrar. This application must be filed with the Registrar
by October 15 for graduation in December, by March 15 for May
graduation, and by June 15 for July graduation.
For admissions and
registration information for this program see
Admissions.
