Coursework Required for an
Advanced Certificate in Ministry

Course Requirements
Eighteen semester hours of coursework as follows:
THL 514
Pastors, Health and Wellness (3)
THL 516
Pastors, Church and the Law (3)
THL 520
History of the Church (3)
and 9 semester hours credit in
courses, numbered 400 and above, as approved by the student’s
adviser.

those courses that a student must complete for a Advanced
Certificate in Ministry.
The Advanced Certificate
in Ministry program of study provides a series of courses purposed
to the continued education of the ministry. The Advanced Certificate
of Ministry program, normally open only to deacons and elders of the
Living Church of God, requires postbaccalaureate admission.
On successful completion
of this program, students:

Can apply ethical issues, laws and regulations covered to selected
decision-making situations;

Can analyze significant developments in the history of the Church
and do major research on its origins, beliefs, and practices;

Demonstrate and exemplify Christian leadership and values;

Know and demonstrate understanding of biblical doctrines;

Be acquainted with the expectations and stresses of ministry; and
-
Are able to clearly articulate the importance of having a healthy
pastoral ministry.
Upon entering the Advanced
Certificate in Ministry program a student is assigned an adviser who
will be available for program advisement and career information. An
adviser helps students create a workable plan to meet their
educational objectives within a reasonable time period.
This certificate normally
requires two academic year (two semesters) to complete on a
part-time basis. Those who plan to complete the advanced certificate
over two or more years can take one or two courses a semester. These
courses are not available in the summer session.
For the conferring of the
certificate students should apply for graduation in the semester
they plan to graduate.
For graduation, a student must have a minimum overall GPA of 3.0 in
the 18 semester hours applicable to the certificate,
Students may obtain an
Application for
Graduation
from the Registrar. This application must be filed with the Registrar
by midterm for graduation that semester.
